About H2Marine

H2Marine is a 30 x 40-metre purpose built facility capable of constructing and refitting vessels of up to 30 metres in length situated in The Whitsundays, QLD.

This facility integrates the latest technology, allowing flexibility to scale-up and diversify the manufacturing operation and to ensure all who work on site will do so in a safe and productive environment. The facility is environmentally sustainable and has a zero-greenhouse gas output.

The H2 Marine Whitsunday Facility includes:

• A 120Kwh solar farm located on the building’s roof, which provides all the electricity that the site requires both in the construction hall and the accommodation building,
• Dust extraction and filtration within the construction hall to ensure the facility is a safe workplace for all and no dust or pollutants will be discharged into the outside environment from the building,
• Temperature controlled areas of work within the construction hall to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
• Reverse cycle air conditioning to remove excessive heat within work spaces which will cool individual work spaces. In addition, these temperature controlled insulated sections within the construction hall provide the ability to also heat sections to cure the composite epoxy glues and resins required in the manufacture of marine vessels. All electrical consumption required for the cooling and heating will be provided by the building’s roof top solar farm.
• Located adjacent to the run way of Shute Harbour Airport for quick access to freight and transport and only 4 kilometres from Shute Harbour Marina.

Location is key when it comes to establishing a boat building facility.

Located in the centre of Northern Australia’s priority region manufacturing growth corridor between Cairns to Gladstone, The Whitsundays has been identified by the Office of Northern Australian’s masterplan as a key manufacturing precinct.

The land size needs to be adequate for the large construction hall and parking.

Access on and off the site and into the construction hall requires sufficient overhead heights and the ability for prime movers to manoeuvrer large oversize payloads such as 30+ metre boats on and off the site. Access to open water launching facilities via road to and from the facility is an additional key requirement.

The H2 Marine Whitsunday Project has already secured income for a two-year period from the facility’s completion date from two major projects. Partnering with The H2 Rendezvous Project the facility, once complete, will be put into immediate use, building Australia’s first hydrogen fuel-cell powered 34 meter commercial tourism vessel.

To retain the H2Rendezvous project and future large scale new build projects in our local region a construction hall of the size we are proposing must be built.

H2 Marine Whitsunday has also secured the tenancy for space within the construction hall from a local boat building company – Liquid Force Marine for the completion of a 15m new build commercial composite catamaran. Again, the lack of adequate sized boat construction facilities in our region has opened the opportunity for H2 Marine Whitsunday to offer our proposed construction hall to businesses such Liquid Force Marine and the H2 Rendezvous Project and with that an immediate guaranteed income.

The construction of the accommodation dwelling will be an unquestionable asset to the success of the H2 Marine business plan offering the essential onsite accommodation for up to 6 employees, trainees and contractors that the H2 Marine Project will attract and require.

As in many parts of Australia, affordable accommodation for workers is in short supply and the Whitsunday region is no exception with a severe shortage of accommodation that is placing the region at a disadvantage to many areas south of Northern Australia. Competition to attract and secure both a skilled and unskilled workforce has never been more competitive and our region’s burgeoning new industries continue to be restrained by being at a disadvantage to attract workers due to the lack of affordable accommodation.

In addition to securing and accommodating the workforce required, having them on site will bring a new sense of camaraderie whilst working on the state-of-the-art zero emission projects within the facility. The best and brightest will be able collaborate in the common goal of being at the forefront of building the new zero emission marine transport systems that are essential for Australia to move towards a zero-greenhouse gas emission future.

Within the construction hall, a purpose-built training facility will provide the hands-on training for the emerging hydrogen fuel cell technicians required for the projects within the facility and hydrogen projects Australia wide.

Having skilled technicians trained at H2 Marine Whitsunday will support the new operational workforce that will be required as the Hydrogen and Hydrogen fuel cell industry expands nationwide.
